Electric Recumbent Trike

Three 20” tires. 48V 20ah battery. 500w geared rear hub motor. Trike purchased used off craigslist. Electric motor, controller, and battery came from a company in Pennsylvania.

Battery Enclosure

Building a closed system to weather proof the battery and protect from dust. Disconnects to the controller and LED allow ease in the event of future servicing or removal. New connects allow for closed system charging.

Wiring and New Charging Ports

12V LED on/off, and 12V/48V external charging ports. Swapped from generic XLR to Neutrik PowerCon® for 48V battery. Phone control over locally generated wifi network for RGB LED under-glow.

Transport Cargo Rack

A cargo carrier with a 1” hitch served as a good base for transport. Two 1” ratchet straps, cut to fit, and blocked wheels secure the trike. Enough space for a 5gal gas canister to fit underneath.

Running Strong

Capable of being removed without having to unpack the carrier. Makes accessing the rear hatch of the vehicle a quick and smooth process.
